Living Your Choice
Georgia’s senior living landscape reflects its growing retiree population and distinct regulatory framework. The Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) oversees licensing and compliance, ensuring that assisted living communities and personal care homes meet established safety and care standards. The state offers various licensing categories tailored to different levels of care and resident needs.
Assisted living costs in Georgia depend on location, facility type, and available services. On average, Georgia’s rates are slightly below the national median, making it an appealing option for retirees. In metropolitan areas like Atlanta and Savannah, monthly costs often exceed $4,500, reflecting demand for upscale amenities. Smaller cities like Macon or Augusta offer more affordable options, with monthly averages closer to $3,500.
Regional differences influence amenities and community styles across the state. Atlanta and coastal areas like Savannah feature luxury assisted living communities with resort-style services, gourmet dining, and waterfront views. In contrast, rural regions such as North Georgia’s Blue Ridge Mountains or South Georgia’s small towns focus on affordability and a more intimate, home-like atmosphere, catering to those seeking a quieter lifestyle.
Georgia also excels in specialized care, particularly for residents with Alzheimer’s and dementia, requiring facilities to obtain memory care certification. The state emphasizes innovation in senior care, including programs for chronic conditions and mobility challenges. Georgia’s mild climate and strong healthcare network make it a desirable choice for retirees seeking diverse senior living options that align with their needs and lifestyles.

Families Loving Their Choice

What a breathe of fresh air knowing that this company provides such a personal touch. They treat their clients with respect and compassion. They take into consideration the details that other companies so easily leave out. It’s a shame more companies aren’t like them, especially working with such fragile situations. They are the best of the best in my eyes. I had the chance to meet the owner and she embodies trust, love and passion for finding the best living/care situation for her clients. Angela is the type of business owner that would literally give you all she has to find what you need. We look forward to a continued relationship with you guys! Cheers!

My wife and I love my mother-in-law but we didn’t have the assisted living expertise to be able to evaluate what’s best for her. Angela (our counselor from LYC) drove out twice and talked to mom. Angela used her terrific interpersonal skills combined with her medical expertise to determine exactly what’s right for mom. Literally dozens of factors were taken into account to find the right place. What impressed me the most is LYC took a comprehensive approach. Both emotional and physical well-being needed to be fully satisfied. Angela showed us a couple places and we eventually found the perfect community for mom. To be brutally honest, it’s not only worked out great for mom but also for us.

Thank heaven we found Living Your Choice!
Recently, our 90-year-old mother became ill and wasn’t going to be able to live on her own anymore, as she’d been doing. My sisters and I were trying to find an assisted living arrangement for her in San Diego, and we were quickly overwhelmed by the options. (It’s very difficult to find a place on your own, just going by the info you see online. Many places don’t post their rates, so you have no idea if you’re looking at something within your budget or not.) I put out a plea on Facebook for any local friends who could recommend a good assisted living place, and a friend suggested we contact Living Your Choice for help.

I wanted to take a moment to thank Living Your Choice for helping me with my dad Bill.
Thank god I had heard of Living Your Choice through a mutual friend. I called and found an expert staff that was able to help me right away. We spent over an hour on the phone discussing my dad, his life, his likes and dislikes, his medical issues, his budget and what he was going to need moving forward. Right away I felt so much better, they understood what was going through and agreed to meet the next morning at the hospital with us both.

View our helpful guide of questions to ask before visiting a senior living community.
Senior living communities typically provide independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing. Some are continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) that allow residents to age in place as their care needs evolve. Confirm the care options and how residents are assessed for transitions.
Costs in senior living range from monthly rental fees to entrance fee models. Pricing often includes housing, utilities, daily meals, housekeeping, transportation, and community activities. Additional fees may apply for personal care or specialized senior health services. Request a detailed cost breakdown and information on rate increases.
Communities often feature amenities such as fitness centers, walking trails, dining rooms, and activity spaces. Life enrichment programs may include exercise classes, social events, educational workshops, and excursions. Check if the senior living community personalizes activities based on residents’ preferences and lifestyle.
The caregiver-to-resident ratio affects personalized attention and quality of care. Most senior living communities provide 24/7 staff support and emergency response systems. Staff may include certified nursing assistants (CNAs) and memory care specialists. Inquire about staff training, certifications, and how the community ensures resident safety.
Many senior living communities offer medication management and partner with healthcare providers. Some have on-site nurses or visiting physicians. Residents may continue seeing their own doctors while the community coordinates senior healthcare services. Ask how medical emergencies are handled and if transportation to appointments is provided.
Schedule a tour to experience the community’s culture. Look for a welcoming environment, happy residents, and attentive staff. Try the food and observe resident engagement in activities. Communities with strong life-enrichment programs and family involvement often foster a supportive senior living experience.
