The best in CCRC communities for seniors.

Continuing Care Retirement Communities (also known as CCRCs) allow active seniors to maintain their independence in a private residential environment, while offering the option for assisted living or nursing care should the need arise. These communities provide a wide range of care choices for residents, from independent private units to skilled nursing.

Note that some Continuing Care communities require long-term care insurance coverage as a condition for admittance. Continuing Care communities are accredited by the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CCAC), a private nonprofit organization. While regulations vary by state, there is no federal agency that governs them.

Families Loving Their Choice

What a breathe of fresh air knowing that this company provides such a personal touch. They treat their clients with respect and compassion. They take into consideration the details that other companies so easily leave out. It’s a shame more companies aren’t like them, especially working with such fragile situations. They are the best of the best in my eyes. I had the chance to meet the owner and she embodies trust, love and passion for finding the best living/care situation for her clients. Angela is the type of business owner that would literally give you all she has to find what you need. We look forward to a continued relationship with you guys! Cheers!

My wife and I love my mother-in-law but we didn’t have the assisted living expertise to be able to evaluate what’s best for her. Angela (our counselor from LYC) drove out twice and talked to mom. Angela used her terrific interpersonal skills combined with her medical expertise to determine exactly what’s right for mom. Literally dozens of factors were taken into account to find the right place. What impressed me the most is LYC took a comprehensive approach. Both emotional and physical well-being needed to be fully satisfied. Angela showed us a couple places and we eventually found the perfect community for mom. To be brutally honest, it’s not only worked out great for mom but also for us.

Thank heaven we found Living Your Choice!

Recently, our 90-year-old mother became ill and wasn’t going to be able to live on her own anymore, as she’d been doing. My sisters and I were trying to find an assisted living arrangement for her in San Diego, and we were quickly overwhelmed by the options. (It’s very difficult to find a place on your own, just going by the info you see online. Many places don’t post their rates, so you have no idea if you’re looking at something within your budget or not.) I put out a plea on Facebook for any local friends who could recommend a good assisted living place, and a friend suggested we contact Living Your Choice for help.

I wanted to take a moment to thank Living Your Choice for helping me with my dad Bill.

Thank god I had heard of Living Your Choice through a mutual friend. I called and found an expert staff that was able to help me right away. We spent over an hour on the phone discussing my dad, his life, his likes and dislikes, his medical issues, his budget and what he was going to need moving forward. Right away I felt so much better, they understood what was going through and agreed to meet the next morning at the hospital with us both.

Benefits of Assisted Living

Assisted living provides seniors with personalized care, social opportunities, and a safe, supportive environment that enhances independence and quality of life.

A Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) offers a spectrum of senior living options ranging from independent living to skilled nursing care, all within one community. Residents can transition seamlessly between different levels of care as their needs change over time. This model provides long-term stability, allowing seniors to age in place while receiving consistent, quality care in a familiar environment.

CCRCs provide a continuum of care that may include independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing services. Additionally, CCRCs often offer on-site healthcare services, dining options, recreational activities, and wellness programs. This comprehensive approach ensures that as residents’ health needs evolve, they can receive the appropriate level of care without leaving the community.

Costs in a CCRC typically include an entrance fee combined with monthly service fees that cover accommodation, meals, and a range of services. The fee structure is designed to provide long-term financial predictability as residents transition through different levels of care. Its important to thoroughly review the contract and understand all costs before committing to a CCRC.

Living in a CCRC provides the advantage of continuity in care, meaning residents can age in place without needing to relocate as their needs change. CCRCs offer a stable, community-oriented environment with a variety of amenities and services that support both independent living and more intensive care, ensuring that residents enjoy a consistent quality of life over the long term.

An ideal candidate for a CCRC is a senior planning for long-term living arrangements who values both independence and the security of on-site healthcare options. This option suits those who want the flexibility to transition from independent living to assisted or skilled nursing care seamlessly, ensuring that their evolving health needs can be met without the stress of relocation.

A CCRC supports long-term care planning by offering a continuum of services within one community. This model allows residents to move from independent living to higher levels of care as needed without the need to relocate. Detailed care plans and regular assessments ensure that services evolve with the resident’s health, providing peace of mind for both residents and their families.

CCRCs typically feature a wide range of amenities including recreational facilities, fitness centers, dining services, social clubs, and landscaped outdoor areas. These amenities are designed to foster an active, engaged lifestyle while also providing the comfort and convenience of on-site services. The diverse offerings ensure that residents can enjoy a rich, fulfilling retirement experience.

CCRCs have integrated healthcare services that can include on-site clinics, wellness programs, and partnerships with local hospitals. This integration ensures prompt attention to health issues and the smooth transition between different care levels as needed. Regular health assessments and personalized care plans help maintain the resident’s well-being within a familiar and supportive environment.

Joining a CCRC typically involves a contractual commitment that may include a substantial entrance fee along with ongoing monthly fees. The commitment terms are designed to secure long-term residency and continuous care. Prospective residents should review all contractual details carefully, ask questions about fee structures and exit options, and consider their long-term care needs before making a decision.

The process for moving into a CCRC usually starts with a tour and consultation to understand the community’s offerings, fee structure, and care options. After reviewing the contract and assessing personal needs, prospective residents work with the community’s staff to complete an application, plan the transition, and integrate into the social and care programs provided.
