The best in memory care for seniors.

Many senior living communities serve people with various forms of dementia, which may be different from an Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Another choice that’s available is a specialized Memory Care community.

Memory Care provides long-term medical care for seniors suffering from dementia that can occur from different diagnoses. This type of professionally staffed and monitored community provides a secure environment and programming to support the quality of life.

While it’s natural for seniors to want to remain at home, those afflicted with dementia or memory impairment will eventually require more hands-on assistance at a community offering memory care services.

Families Loving Their Choice

What a breathe of fresh air knowing that this company provides such a personal touch. They treat their clients with respect and compassion. They take into consideration the details that other companies so easily leave out. It’s a shame more companies aren’t like them, especially working with such fragile situations. They are the best of the best in my eyes. I had the chance to meet the owner and she embodies trust, love and passion for finding the best living/care situation for her clients. Angela is the type of business owner that would literally give you all she has to find what you need. We look forward to a continued relationship with you guys! Cheers!

My wife and I love my mother-in-law but we didn’t have the assisted living expertise to be able to evaluate what’s best for her. Angela (our counselor from LYC) drove out twice and talked to mom. Angela used her terrific interpersonal skills combined with her medical expertise to determine exactly what’s right for mom. Literally dozens of factors were taken into account to find the right place. What impressed me the most is LYC took a comprehensive approach. Both emotional and physical well-being needed to be fully satisfied. Angela showed us a couple places and we eventually found the perfect community for mom. To be brutally honest, it’s not only worked out great for mom but also for us.

Thank heaven we found Living Your Choice!

Recently, our 90-year-old mother became ill and wasn’t going to be able to live on her own anymore, as she’d been doing. My sisters and I were trying to find an assisted living arrangement for her in San Diego, and we were quickly overwhelmed by the options. (It’s very difficult to find a place on your own, just going by the info you see online. Many places don’t post their rates, so you have no idea if you’re looking at something within your budget or not.) I put out a plea on Facebook for any local friends who could recommend a good assisted living place, and a friend suggested we contact Living Your Choice for help.

I wanted to take a moment to thank Living Your Choice for helping me with my dad Bill.

Thank god I had heard of Living Your Choice through a mutual friend. I called and found an expert staff that was able to help me right away. We spent over an hour on the phone discussing my dad, his life, his likes and dislikes, his medical issues, his budget and what he was going to need moving forward. Right away I felt so much better, they understood what was going through and agreed to meet the next morning at the hospital with us both.

Benefits of Assisted Living

Assisted living provides seniors with personalized care, social opportunities, and a safe, supportive environment that enhances independence and quality of life.

Memory care communities are specialized living environments designed to support individuals with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or other memory impairments. These communities offer secure settings, structured routines, and specialized programs aimed at preserving cognitive function and providing a safe, compassionate environment where residents receive personalized care tailored to their unique challenges.

Memory care facilities provide services including 24-hour supervision, medication management, structured daily routines, and specialized activities that engage residents cognitively. Additional services often include personal care assistance, secure environments, and therapeutic programs tailored to memory-impaired individuals, ensuring that residents receive both safety and stimulation in a compassionate and understanding setting.

Memory care communities ensure safety by implementing secure access controls, constant supervision, and a carefully designed physical environment that minimizes hazards. Staff are trained in dementia care techniques, and each resident’s care plan is individually tailored. These measures work together to create a secure environment where residents can move freely with reduced risk of wandering or injury.

  1. Memory care is specifically designed for individuals with cognitive impairments, while assisted living caters to seniors with varying levels of physical support needs. Memory care focuses on creating a secure, structured environment with specialized programs and staff trained in dementia care, whereas assisted living may not offer the same level of tailored cognitive and behavioral support.

Individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or other memory-related conditions can benefit from memory care services. These communities are designed to address the unique challenges of memory impairment by providing structured routines, specialized therapies, and secure environments, ensuring residents receive the compassionate care and safety they need to maintain quality of life.

Memory care facilities offer activities specifically designed to stimulate cognitive function, such as art therapy, music sessions, and memory games. These programs are tailored to residents’ abilities and interests, promoting engagement and emotional well-being. Structured activities help reduce confusion and anxiety while fostering a sense of purpose and enjoyment in daily life.

Staff in memory care facilities undergo specialized training in dementia care techniques, communication strategies, and behavioral management. This training ensures they understand the unique needs of memory-impaired residents and can provide compassionate, individualized care. Ongoing professional development and regular updates in best practices help maintain a high standard of care within the memory care environment.

Families are considered essential partners in the care process within memory care communities. Regular updates, family meetings, and care plan reviews help keep relatives informed and involved. These interactions not only ensure that the resident’s history and preferences are honored but also provide emotional support to both the resident and family members during a challenging time.

Memory care communities are equipped to handle medical emergencies with round-the-clock staffing, clear protocols, and strong partnerships with local healthcare providers. Regular assessments, emergency call systems, and rapid response procedures ensure that any health concerns are addressed quickly. This integrated approach minimizes risks and ensures that residents receive timely medical attention when needed.

When choosing a memory care facility, consider factors such as staff training, facility safety, the range of services, and the quality of therapeutic programs. Visiting the community, asking detailed questions, and reviewing care plans are essential steps. It is also important to ensure that the environment feels supportive, secure, and tailored to the specific needs of those with memory impairments.
